Writer As Entrepreneur (Mailbox Money)
(by Susan James)

Recently, Matthew McConaughey posted a story
about his first romantic comedy; ‘How to Lose a
Guy in 10 Days’ with Kate Hudson. He
referred to that film as giving him ‘Mailbox
Money’, money that just keeps coming. (Most
mailbox money of any film he’s ever done).

That film as been playing on HBO and other
channels for some time. When it’s on, I have it
on, even in the background as I do what I do
during the day. It’s a fun, feel good film with
funny, smart people.

This reminded me of the first time I received
mailbox money and the fun feeling it gave me.

At the time, I was in pharmaceutical sales, and I
even remember the suit I was wearing as I
opened my mail, and someone, actually more
than one, had sent me a check in the mail for a
newsletter I had designed and advertised. Wow,
that felt and still feels wonderful!

I advertised this print newsletter in the National
Enquirer and Mother Earth News. I’d gone to
the trouble to set up processing bulk mailings
through the post office.

At the time, even though I had a well paying
job, I didn’t enjoy it and always had something
else going on to move out of it. From Real
Estate to Selling Boats of Sugar to Writing.

There are many faces to ‘writing’. We are either
writing with words, or writing in our heads with
images of things we want to create which may
add to our livelihood. We don’t have to be
‘wordsmiths’ to be writers or to have mailbox
money.

How did I get started with my mail box money?
1. Desire for more (we always have that, no
matter where we are)
2. My interests led me to a ‘mail-order course’
which helped me know what I needed to know
about creating mailbox money.
3. I followed the steps.
4. Result: Mailbox Money!

Although there are many new ways that
‘mailbox money’ shows up these days and still I
get some in ‘postal mail’. Most of it comes
through notices in my ‘email’, or reports from
other places, but still via email.

Am I doing anything different these days for my
mailbox money?
Nope.
I’m still reading books on how to do stuff that I
don’t know how to do, and to keep me inspired,
which leads to inspired action.

I’m still using a routine to keep me positive,
expectant and enthusiastic.
I’m still taking courses on things I want to learn
which helps me be creative.

And, as Mr. McConaughey mentions through
his video post, he was having fun doing what he
was doing. (Yep, got that one covered too.)

If you have a desire for more money, be okay
about that! Money is a foundation for us, and if
that’s out of whack, then other parts of our lives
can tumble down as well, from health to
relationships. (Been there!)

We can’t tap into higher things which make life
so much easier, if money is a constant source of
lower resistance.

If you have a desire for something better, we all
do, it’s on going. If you don’t know how to get
started on your something better..Just Ask. Ask
the wind. Ask God, ask The Universe, Ask
Source, ask your pets. Just Ask, and a way will
open up to MORE. And it just may give you
your own mailbox money!

Best and Splendid Success Everyone!
