Snoop Dogg on Changing His Perspective
on His Writing, and the Huge Difference It
Made! (A Simple Shift of The Pen-The Sword)

Although Rap Music isn’t one that I listen to, I
did go to the theater to see ‘8 Mile’ with
Eminem when it first came out. It was the
energy of it, beyond the subject matter.

The film was inspiring and taught me some
things about rap. Snoop Dogg, also as someone
starting out in Rap didn’t draw me in until I
started seeing him with Martha Stewart. He
added to his already successful business many
new revenue streams of his making.

In a recent article in the online publication in
Atlanta Black Star, Ashley Turner wrote
‘My Life Was Changed’: Snoop Dogg Says
Acquittal In Murder Trial Prompted Him to Stop
Writing About Death and Violence.

Snoop Dogg throughout the article went on to
say, that due to some past circumstances he
chose to ‘Re-direct his pen to write life instead
of death’.

When asked if he saw his past coincidences
unnerving, Snoop ascribed it to the “pen being
mightier than the sword,” and an endless cycle
of living the life that he was writing.

He recognized and acknowledged that the theme
of writing he was doing at the time helped to
create the life he was also living. He decided he
no longer wanted that life. Snoop Dogg saw
how his ‘pen, his writing of that time, created a
life he no longer wanted.’

Snoop Dogg also realized he could use the same
pen to re-direct his life, to, in his words, ‘life’.

He made a new choice and re-directed his pen to
write of life instead of death.

And this new direction put him on a wonderful
new life and business path.

What might we learn from Mr. Snoop Dogg? If
we don’t like where we are and if we haven’t
begun to create more of what we want our life to
look like, maybe re-direct our pen?

Or as I have done for years, a new Sword
Statement, a new set of ‘The Sword of 3’s’!
